Oman and Pakistan have taken significant steps to enhance their bilateral cooperation by signing a visa exemption agreement and four memoranda of understanding (MoUs). These agreements were formalized during a meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad, witnessed by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi.
The visa exemption agreement is set to facilitate easier travel for holders of diplomatic, special, service, and official passports between the two countries, marking a notable advancement in diplomatic relations. On behalf of their respective nations, Al Busaidi and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar signed the agreements.
Covering a range of sectors, the MoUs aim to fortify collaboration in telecommunications, information technology, broadcasting, and archival services. Specifically, these agreements focus on cooperation in radio and television broadcasting, the exchange of news and information, and strengthen ties between Oman’s National Records and Archives Authority and Pakistan’s National Archives.
Further cementing their commitment to expanding collaboration, the two countries signed the minutes of the eighth session of their Joint Ministerial Committee. This move underscores their shared dedication to developing partnerships in areas of mutual interest.
The agreements are expected to bolster institutional relationships, enhance coordination between government bodies, and facilitate the exchange of technical expertise. These developments are seen as a progressive step in advancing Oman-Pakistan relations, with both nations keen on exploring opportunities across key sectors.
