During his two-day official visit to Türkiye, Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir was greeted by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at Ankara Airport. The encounter took place shortly before Erdoğan embarked on an official trip to Qatar. Joining the meeting were key Turkish officials, including Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, Chief of General Staff Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, and National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Director Ibrahim Kalın.

Field Marshal Munir also engaged in separate discussions with Chief of General Staff Bayraktaroğlu earlier in his visit, underscoring the ongoing commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership between Türkiye and Pakistan. This collaboration is notably marked by a focus on defense cooperation, reflecting the shared interests and priorities of both nations in bolstering regional security and stability.

The visit occurs against a backdrop of deepening bilateral relations under the leadership of President Erdoğan and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Their administrations have worked to expand ties across various sectors, with defense remaining a pivotal area of cooperation. This partnership reflects the broader geopolitical dynamics in which both countries are key players.

Field Marshal Munir has recently emerged as an influential figure in Pakistan’s diplomatic landscape, actively contributing to mediation efforts aimed at resolving regional tensions.
