Oman has reiterated its dedication to resolving international conflicts through dialogue and peaceful negotiations, as highlighted by Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi during the 81st United Nations General Assembly. Emphasizing the importance of diplomacy, Al Busaidi underscored the need for building trust and respecting international law, while urging avoidance of force and interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states.

Addressing security concerns in the region, Oman expressed apprehension over the impact of ongoing conflicts on the safety of maritime navigation, particularly through the strategic Strait of Hormuz. Al Busaidi reassured the assembly of Oman’s commitment to ensuring freedom of navigation in accordance with international law and the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. He called on all involved parties to seek resolution through dialogue and political negotiations, reinforcing Oman’s solidarity with neighboring Gulf countries to protect their security and sovereignty.

In the context of the Yemen crisis, Oman reaffirmed its support for a political solution that maintains the country’s unity and stability. Al Busaidi urged all parties involved to work towards a settlement that honors the rights and dignity of the Yemeni people while supporting the nation’s reconstruction and development efforts.

Oman also addressed the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict, condemning Israeli actions in the region and reaffirming its support for Palestinian rights. The country advocates for the establishment of a Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, in line with the two-state solution and relevant UN resolutions.

In addition to its regional diplomatic efforts, Oman reiterated its commitment to sustainable development under the Oman Vision 2040 initiative. This includes a focus on renewable energy, sustainable transportation, and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. The foreign minister also highlighted Oman’s initiatives to promote tolerance and combat hate speech through the Muscat Plan, in collaboration with the United Nations.
