This data was part of the latest monthly weather statistics released by the Civil Aviation Authority. While Mahout led the record for heat, several other regions, including Barka, Damaa and Al Tayeen, and Fahud, saw temperatures soaring to 49.4°C. Qarn Al Alam also faced extreme heat, recording 48.4°C during this period.
The temperature extremes in Oman were not limited to the heat. Jabal Shams, known for its cooler climate, registered the country’s lowest temperature at 11.1°C, showcasing the dramatic variance in weather conditions across different regions. Other cooler locations included Saiq at 16.8°C, Al Ashkharah at 18.0°C, Jabal Harem at 18.2°C, and Dhalkut at 20.4°C, providing a stark contrast to the sweltering heat experienced elsewhere.
Rainfall patterns during June also presented noteworthy contrasts. Dhalkut in Dhofar experienced the highest rainfall, receiving 55 mm, which was significantly more than other regions. Jabal Shams followed with 18.4 mm of rainfall, while Saiq recorded 16.6 mm. Additionally, Ibra received 12.2 mm, and Qayroun Hairiti saw 11.2 mm, indicating that precipitation was primarily concentrated in Dhofar and the mountainous areas.
This weather data highlights the diverse climatic conditions that Oman experiences during June. While much of the country grapples with extreme summer temperatures, certain regions, particularly in the south and mountainous areas, continue to receive notable amounts of rainfall, providing a bit of relief from the intense heat.
