The United States and Jordan have forged a new trade agreement designed to bolster economic collaboration, minimize trade barriers, and create fresh business opportunities across both nations. As part of this accord, Jordan will maintain duty-free access for the majority of American goods entering its markets. Simultaneously, both countries will collaborate to dismantle logistical and trade hurdles, thereby enhancing the flow of goods and services.

US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer emphasized that this agreement aligns with President Donald Trump’s initiative to strengthen economic and strategic ties in the Middle East while opening new avenues for American exporters. Meanwhile, Jordan’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Yarub Qudah, highlighted that Jordanian exports to the US will now face a 10 percent tariff, whereas US exports to Jordan will continue to benefit from duty-free status as per the existing free-trade agreement. Qudah further noted that this development is anticipated to elevate investment activities between the two nations.

Jordan holds the distinction of being the first Arab nation to sign a free-trade agreement with the United States back in 2001, a move that paved the way for the elimination of all duties by 2010. This new agreement seeks to build upon that foundation, reflecting the ongoing commitment of both countries to enhance their economic partnership.

Trade figures from 2025 illustrate the robust nature of this economic relationship, with total trade between the United States and Jordan reaching $5.34 billion. Jordan’s key exports consist of chemicals, garments, mineral products, and precious stones. Its main import partners include China, Saudi Arabia, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates, indicating a diverse and dynamic trade network.
