In a significant stride towards sustainable transportation, Oman has successfully concluded the third edition of its youth training programme dedicated to electric vehicle (EV) technologies and eco-friendly transport solutions. Running from July 19 to August 27, the “Electric Vehicle Experts” (EV-Pro) initiative gathered 35 enthusiastic participants from various universities and colleges across the nation, equipping them with vital skills and knowledge in this burgeoning field.

The programme’s curriculum was comprehensive, covering essential aspects of electric vehicle technologies, including charging infrastructure, network planning, and vehicle maintenance and operations. Participants delved into the economic advantages of electric vehicles, gaining insights into how these innovations could significantly cut down greenhouse gas emissions. This hands-on training aimed to prepare young Omanis for the challenges and opportunities in the evolving landscape of sustainable transportation.

Workshops conducted during the programme emphasized the pressing environmental challenges and the principles of sustainability, aligning closely with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Through these sessions, participants were encouraged to engage in activities designed to develop practical solutions tailored to address local environmental needs, ensuring that the training was not only theoretical but also actionable in real-world scenarios.

This initiative is part of Oman’s broader commitment to advancing sustainable transportation and achieving carbon neutrality by the year 2050. By fostering a new generation of experts in electric vehicle technologies, the programme aims to support the country’s environmental objectives and contribute to global efforts to combat climate change.
