The downstream petroleum markets in the Middle East, Asia, and Africa are currently experiencing a shift in supply patterns, trade routes, and a demand for more adaptable logistics networks. In light of these changes, Petrosil is organizing the seventh AMEA Bitumen, Base Oil and Logistics Convention & Exhibition, scheduled for November 23, 2026, in Muscat. This event, named AMEA Oman 2026, will take place at the Radisson Collection Muscat, Hormuz Grand, marking Petrosil’s inaugural industry event in Oman after hosting over 20 events in cities like Dubai, Bangkok, Mumbai, Abu Dhabi, and Bahrain since 2012.
More than 25 sponsors and exhibitors have already confirmed their participation in the convention, which aims to gather a diverse range of stakeholders, including producers, refiners, traders, blenders, lubricant manufacturers, and logistics providers, among others. Oman’s strategic location, offering access to maritime routes connecting the Middle East with the Indian subcontinent, East Africa, and Asia, has bolstered its role in regional trade. The country’s ports, industrial zones, and evolving logistics infrastructure play a crucial role in the transportation of downstream petroleum products, impacting delivered costs through factors such as freight rates, vessel availability, and storage facilities.
Amid shifting supply conditions, particularly in bitumen markets which are closely tied to road construction and infrastructure projects, the convention will explore how supply is affected by refinery operations, crude availability, and international trade flows. India serves as a notable example, where local production and alternative crude sources have improved bitumen availability following disruptions in West Asian crude flows. Across the broader AMEA region, stakeholders are considering diverse sourcing strategies and alternative trade routes to mitigate supply risks.
The event will also address related markets such as base oils, lubricants, additives, and waxes, which are integral to various industrial applications. With changes in refinery economics and international trade flows influencing sourcing and blending decisions, the convention will examine supply dynamics and distribution challenges. Logistics, often seen as a separate support function, will be emphasized as a key commercial consideration, impacting the overall economics of petroleum transactions through elements like freight costs, storage capacity, and terminal access.
Key focus areas at AMEA Oman 2026 will include bitumen supply and demand dynamics, base oil and lubricant sourcing and blending, additive formulation requirements, wax supply and applications, as well as logistics and supply-chain resilience.
